Earlier this week, Bristol Sport submitted their outline planning application for Sporting Quarter adjacent to Ashton Gate Stadium.
The Bedminster & Southville Labour Party Branch had an online discussion about both schemes with Bristol Sport last night.
Local councillor Mark Bradshaw has provided an update:
I’ve had a number of direct briefings by Bristol Sport about their proposals for Ashton Gate and the Longmoor residential development in Ashton Vale.
Much detail has been provided to the Council on both applications and I shall be urging local residents to have their say during the formal consultation.
My priorities are:
- Ashton Gate: Local traffic management: the cumulative impact of development and events at Ashton Gate requires an event day parking scheme and robust junction protection to ensure emergency access. Another option would be moving ahead with a Bedminster West RPS (Residents’ Parking Scheme) after the stalling of the last 4-5 years.
- Also, jobs and skills during construction and operational phases.
- Pressure on Winterstoke Rd.
- Longmoor: affordability and tenure mix. Protection and biodiversity management for the Town & Village Green land nearby (this will not be developed on) and other green spaces/corridors such as along Colliters and Longmoor Brooks. Provision of community space and CIL for Ashton Vale priorities.
