Labour Hengrove and Whitchurch Park candidates oppose plans to turn existing leisure park into a site for more housing!
We will vigorously oppose any plans to add a further 350 houses to an already over saturated area. The site is currently owned by Bristol city council but was leased to current owners AEG by the old Avon county council on a 900+ year contract.
Neighbouring councils want to build large estates around our borders however there is a great need for affordable local facilities and entertainment.
We have a site that potentially could provide for local people however the current situation with the leaseholder is expensive for Bristol City Council and local taxpayers. Labour Hengrove and Whitchurch Park candidates urge the leaseholders to halt plans and return to table to work with the local groups and city to explore what the site can be used for that will benefit everybody.
With the airport having 1400 houses and more proposed on empty spaces around the hospital along with the current builds going on along Airport Rd and the old school site in Hartcliffe we will see massive increase in traffic along both Hengrove lane and Airport Rd this making the area oversubscribed for traffic.
