What we’ve been working on for Windmill Hill, Totterdown Bedminster and Knowle
Winning funding for local facilities Current Labour councillors helped secure over £200,000 funding for local projects including a St Luke’s Road pedestrian crossing and improvements to Perrett and Victoria Parks. We are working to get these implemented. Aileen helped secure a new home for local Skemer’s boxing gym that provides classes for local young people.
We are campaigning for better air quality in our area, especially important with 2 local schools near main roads.
Planning and parking We are working with the community to oppose overdevelopment on Bedminster Green and push for affordable housing. We are aware of parking problems and would support a Resident Parking Zone consultation.
Stop Totterdown being overrun with large student lets Labour Councillor efforts have secured legal safeguards to prevent landlords taking over when the Temple Island University campus opens.
Save Jubilee pool We worked on the proposal to council to look again at options for the pool and met with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Support renters – we are members of Acorn Community Union and support their work to protect renters from eviction.
We back Labours Green New Deal for local green jobs and infrastructure to tackle the climate emergency.
